habe ich den Abschnitt schon in der
Tasche. Gegen diesen bekomme ich
bei der Comp[agnie] das Packet. Habe aber
nicht eher Zeit das selbe abzufordern,
wie morgen Nachmittag, wenn ich
den dienst los bin.
Sonst weiβ ich dir nichts Neues zu
berichten, als daβ ich mich freuen
würde, wenn dieser Krieg endlich
zu Ende u[nd] wir alle wieder
nach hause kommen würden.
Es ist ¼ vor 3 Uhr Nachts [...] muβ
ich mich [wieder?] [...]
[Sa...] Auβenposten u[nd] Patr[ouille?] [...]
Sonst also nichts mehr.
Schreibe mir bald wieder. Gute
Nacht mein lieber Schatz!
Sei herzlich gegrüβt u[nd] geküβt
von deinen tr[euen] Otto
[Marginalia:]
Herzinnige Grüβe u[nd] Küβe auch an unsere liebe kleinen.
Hat R[...] das Los gesandt?
Translation:
I have the collection ticket in my
pocket. In return for this, I will get
the package from the Company. Haven't had the
time yet to pick it up like I'll have
tomorrow afternoon, when I'm
finished with duty.
Apart from that, I don't know anything new to
report, other than that I would be happy
if this war were finally
over and we would all
come back home again.
It is quarter to 3 at night, […] I have
to […] again […]
[…] outside sentry and patrol […]
It will be 4 o'clock before I am finished, then
I have peace until quarter to six.
Tomorrow morning there will be another
41 work brigades marching out […]
circa 800 prisoners which also
all have to be documented and exactly counted,
for which I have quite a few things
to respond.
But apart from that, nothing more.
Write to me again soon. Good
night, my beloved darling!
Be lovingly greeted and kissed
by your faithful Otto
[Marginalia:]
Heartfelt greetings and kisses to our dear young ones!
Did R[…] send the [lottery] ticket?
