Sunday 23rd & Monday 24th August 1914
1. The Germans are besieging Namur.
2. Fresh victories in the West.
3. British Cavalry were defeated near Maubeuge.
4. 21st Armycorps have entered Luneville.
5. 150 French guns have been captured up-to-now.
6. The German Crown prince is fighting at Longwy. The Herzog of Württemberg has just defeated the French troops at Neufchâteau. To the West of the Maas river, the German troops are marching on Maubeuge.
7. German artillery still firing on Namur.
8. Dum-Dum bullets used by the French.
9. The lying in State of the Pope. Nineteen Cardinals and Bishops, as well as the whole of the “corps diplomatique” were present.
Played the piano this evening to C. Composed a song to her, with verses. She is such a darling.
