September 3rd 1914 Thursday
Great Britain threatens Turkey.
Turkey is apt to be dangerous in Egypt-Arabia—as her influence over the Mohammedan countries is great.
It seems as if Turkey and Italy—perhaps Bulgaria—will soon be drawn into this terrible war.
My own opinion is that the most serious part of the war—namely the battles between the Germans and French and Germans, Austrians and Russians will be over in three months time. How long the naval warfare between England and Germany will last, no one can tell.
Wrote a note to darling C, and gave her a large bunch of roses. I keep two photographs of her hidden in my cigarette-case.
